Maruti Suzuki Cervo - India's Next Favorite Car


Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its new 660CC entry level petrol hatchback Maruti Cervo around Diwali this Year. Though not officially confirmed, this car may replace Maruti's iconic 800CC model - Maruti 800, which they have stopped selling in top 13 indian cities in 2010. As per auto experts,   Cervo could well be India's next popular best selling car!

This will be launched to compete directly with Tata Nano and Hyundai Eon which are selling in good numbers these days. Moreover, Maruti Alto sale has been hit severely due to their launch. 


Suzuki Cervo is already running successfully in Japan and Maruti Suzuki want to launch the same in India. Its Indian model will be made less luxurious to cut the cost down. It may not have the same features as the current one in Japan and will have slight change in its dimensions too. Also, Cervo may be launched in India under a different name!

The price for this entry level car is expected to be between Rs. 2-2.5 LakhsThe USP of this new car will be its mileage which is expected to be around 25 Kmpl. Cervo will have four speed automatic transmission and will use advanced VVT (variable valve timing)  technology to ensure better mileage and power. 

Maruti Cervo will have compact and sporty exteriors and will be unique with its sleek curves and flow lines. The car will have quality and spacious interiors with a wider dashboard having round AC vents and  large storage box.


The Maruti Cervo is meant mainly for city driving and will be light and easy to handle.The car will be equipped with power steering and this will come as standard feature for all its variants.

  • Max Power: 54 bhp
  • Peak Torque: 64 Nm @3500 rpm
  • Fuel : Petrol
  • Estimated Price: 2.5 Lakhs

As per latest information Maruti Suzuki, they don't have immediate plans to launch Cervo in India. As said before, they will launch an 800cc car - new version of Alto named as Alto 800 on October 16, 2012. Click here to know about new Alto 800.
