Audi Q5 Hybrid Overviews & Features
The Audi Q5 Hybrid will deliver good fuel economy and sporty performance for a vehicle of its size. The hybrid model will use a 2.0 liter direct-injection, turbocharged inline four cylinder engine and a 40 kW electric motor. This powertrain is the same as that used in the Audi A6 and A8 Hybrid concept vehicles.
The Q5 Hybrid offers three operating modes (Electric, Drive, and Sport), giving drivers a choice between economical or sporty performance. For example, using both the engine and motor in the Sport mode, the Audi Q5 Hybrid can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 kph) in 7.1 seconds and hit a top speed of 139 mph. In the Drive mode, which trades off some performance for fuel savings, the Q5 gets 34 mpg, combined. In the Electric mode, only the motor is used, and the Q5 has a range of 1.8 miles if driven at an average speed of about 35 mph. Some reviewers have noted that unlike other hybrids, the Audi Q5 can be driven in electric-only mode at a high speed (62 mph) for a short distance (essentially, until the batteries are completely drained).

An all-wheel drive (AWD) version of the hybrid offers another choice. Drivers get better performance, but lower fuel economy. Audi claims the AWD version boosts the four cylinder engine’s performance so that the driver experiences a ride comparable to that of an SUV or crossover with a V6 engine.
From a design perspective, the Audi Q5 Hybrid will incorporate the same small changes made to the entire Q5 model line for the new model year. The exterior changes include a choice of four new body colors and new bumpers, grill, and exhaust pipes. Inside, the Q5 line will have an easier to use drive selector and a more efficient air conditioner. Additionally, the Q5 Hybrid gets ten-spoke alloy wheels and a body-color bumper.
Audi is also planning to offer V6 and diesel versions (both non-hybrid) of the Q5 crossover. At this time, Audi has not released pricing details for the Q5 Hybrid.
