Mahindra Verito Vibe Review
Value for Money Compact Diesel Sedan
We know about Mahindra Verito sedan since those Logan days. It has got quite few good qualities and is well known as a value for money spacious sedan that can comfortably sit 5 people. Moreover, the presence of reliable and good performance Renault 1.5 litre diesel engine add to its advantage. The main drawback is the styling and design factor - it is just basic and nothing much to say.
Mahindra had been planning to bring a low cost car that should have all the good qualities of Verito and still look stylish. Thus Verito Vibe was born. It is a sub 4 meter length car and retain the Verito design . Both these factors keep the cost low.
Design and Looks
At first glance, it looks like a hatchback from rear with its sporty new rear tail lamp cluster. But the boot opens like a sedan. We can open only its bottom part and the boot is hinged at the bottom of the rear windscreen. So we can call Vibe as a compact sedan that was trying to look like a hatchback. You are not mistaken if you find some similarity with Ford Figo from the rear. The boot line and two tone bumper looks like Ford Figo, giving Verito Vibe a new refreshing look!
But don't think of any other major design change in Vibe. All other sections are same as in Verito. You can say as a 'cut and paste' model of Verito from front Bumper to rear door. Everything 'same -same'. Oh yes! two changes. The chromium frame in front grille has been replaced with carbon shade frame and the headlights has got a smoky look.
Engine
The Renault engine in Verito Vibe is the same that we see in most of the popular Renault models. It is a tried and tested 1.5 litre diesel engine that is efficient and responsive with minimum engine noise. There is no need of frequently changing gears which makes it ideal for city use. It gives an average fuel efficiency of 20 Kmpl, which is not bad.
So what about inside?
Interiors and Features
There is not much to say about interiors. It is just basic design that we seen in Verito. The rear seat has three headrests and three people can comfortably sit with ample leg space. Needless to say, Vibe is various spacious inside and has got wide front road view. It has got 330 litres boot space. The rear seats cannot be adjusted or folded to add boot space. Due to small boot entrance and high ground clearance, keeping large luggage need some effort. Vibe gives good driving experience and easily absorbs all those jerks and potholes in Indian roads. One main disadvantage is the lack of driver seat adjustment.
Vibe comes in three diesel models - D2, D4 and D6. The high end D6 model comes with Airbags, ABS, 2 DIN music system with CD, MP3 player, USB and aux in, alloy wheels and a rear defogger.
The Verito Vibe competes with the likes of Chevrolet Sail U-VA and Toyota Etios Liva.
